Did the recall notice re auto defects come too late for you?

In recent years, automakers have sustained numerous setbacks. The recalls of vehicles for auto defects such as defective airbags, ignition switches and brakes seem to come more often and affect a larger number of vehicles than ever before here in the United States, including on many here in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, a recall could come too late to keep you from suffering serious injuries caused by or contributed to by an auto defect.

Being involved in even a seemingly minor collision could reveal the defect in your vehicle. Your seat belt could break and send you crashing into the windshield, or the airbag could fail or contain debris that causes you significant injuries. Like most Pennsylvania residents, you have probably heard about the recall of Takata airbags that have actually caused fatalities. Depending on the nature of the defect, you may be lucky to be alive.

Even if you received a recall notice regarding your vehicle, auto dealers may not yet have the equipment and/or parts needed to fix it right away. This means that you may be forced to take the chance of driving with a potential or confirmed defect. This could place you and your passengers at great risk.

If you ended up suffering serious injuries due to auto defects, you may be able to seek restitution from the parties believed responsible. An attorney can review your situation, advise you of your legal rights and assist with the filing of a personal injury claim, if appropriate. Successfully establishing that your injuries resulted due to the defect could result in much needed financial restitution.
